GLA is a landscape design + build studio. We see the landscape as a living sculpture that must balance the elements of composition with the dynamic forces of nature.
We Listen to our Clients to understand their goals. Together, we describe a vision for the intended use + approach to the land. Our style is that which is appropriate for a given Site - it's architecture, it's natural features + its Owner's wishes.
We Listen to the Site to understand the natural systems that have been shaping it for ages. We observe drainage patterns, test the soil + document which plants are growing where. We believe that the ways in which we change the land should be done thoughtfully + with an awareness of what has come before.
Simplicity + Boldness are hallmarks of our designs. We believe that within a strong framework a rich language of texture, color + scale relationships can be achieved. At their most successful, our landscapes reinforce or reveal the underlying character + strengths of a Site while making clever use of space for the Owner. We strive for efficiency + beauty. We tend to avoid making things. Instead, we make places.
